Our newest product, Pill Glide, is designed to help people swallow the tablets and capsules they take everyday – while tasting great in the process.
Why is Medication Adherence Important?
Few actions could help drive down the annual health care costs in this country like improving medication adherence. The numbers associated with non-adherence are staggering. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), only 50% of the world’s population takes medications as prescribed. Specifically in the United States, the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) found that nearly 3 out of 4 Americans admit to not taking their medicine as prescribed. There is no age-bias to non-adherence. Young, old and everyone in between suffer. So much so, that the annual cost to the U.S. health care system from people not taking medicine as prescribed is estimated to be $177 Billion. While flavoring liquid medications and helping people swallow tablets and capsules aren’t the only solutions, they are certainly important ones.
How it Works
FLAVORx is available upon request in pharmacies across the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico and Australia. Utilizing our Pediatric Flavoring System, pharmacists dramatically improve the taste of liquid medications, most often for children. There is typically a small fee charged by the pharmacy for performing the flavoring service.
Pill Glide is a consumer product available on the shelf and online. It is a spray that coats the tongue and throat, effectively creating a slick barrier between pills and the throat lining. Pill Glide is also flavored, so it helps with bad tasting tablets, plus vitamins and supplements. While FLAVORx is geared towards the pediatric population, Pill Glide can be used by virtually anyone – from the child just learning how to transition to pills from liquids, to the daily vitamin taker, to the person on chronic medications.
